The intent is fine. This is particularly true if you look at how it would apply to a sistant general managers and coaches under contract and doing work for a team.
Promoting a culture that rewards capable people with new jobs is undeniably positive. By that same token, teams shouldnt be expected, nece sarily, to let talented people walk for nothing.
